World Hepatitis Day (WHD)Since 2004, hepatitis patient groups have tried to change the lack of public awareness of hepatitis B and C by co-ordinating awareness activities around a specific day, notably October 1st as World Hepatitis Awareness Day (WHAD). A World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA) was then established in Geneva in 2007. It aims to oversee what is now referred to as 'World Hepatitis Day (WHD)' to ensure it is a patient-led initiative, moving the date to the 19th May from 2008 onwards. An awareness campaign focusing on ''Am I Number 1 in 12?' is being implemented to coincide with World Hepatitis Day 2008.
