Which Strain do I have? - The genotype test
You will normally have this test at the point when treatment is being considered.
The test will determine which genotype of the the Virus that you have. This matters because some genotyopes are easier to treat than others and have a shorter treatment regime.
- Genotype 2 and 3 need 6 months treament
- Genotype 2 and 3 have around 87% treatment success
- Genotype 1, 4 and 5 need 12 months treatment
- Genotype 1, 4 and 5 –have around 40-56% treatment success
