Can I Get Treated?
Anti-viral treatment is not advised for everyone with Hepatitis C. A range of factors are considered to determine if you will be able to cope with anti-viral treatment and how your care should be managed before, during and after treatment:
- Age
- Gender
- Genotype of the viral infection
- Duration of the infection
- Extent of damage to the liver
- Presence of cirrhosis
- Current drug and alcohol use
- History of cardiac or respiratory illness
- History of chronic depression
The specialist who is responsible for your care will talk through your options with you and help you to come to the right decisions about treatment.
