What Is Involved

Interferon is taken either once (pegylated form) or three times (unpegylated form) a week. You are taught how to inject this into the fat just under the skin (called a subcutaneously injection). This is similar to the type of injection a diabetic might take and is usually done in the stomach or the top of the leg.

In contrast, ribavirin is taken orally twice a day in the form of a capsule.

The length of your treatment with combination therapy depends on several factors and will be discussed with your specialist.
